Good Morning. Here is the latest installment of The Steve Black Show’s Monday Morning Quarterback.
Power Outage in Cincinnati
As you may or may not know, I am a big fan of the Cincinnati Reds. The Reds have not tasted a World Series Championship since their sweep of the Oakland A’s Bash Brothers of Conseco and McGuire in 1990. Since then, they have experienced some lean years, but over the past few years, they have made a sort of resurgence back into the baseball spotlight. They have captured the NL Central Division Title in 2 of the last 3 years. The only problem is they have not made it over the hump to be a serious threat in the post season, especially after their disappointing loss to eventual champion San Francisco Giant in last years Divisional Playoff Series, blowing a 2-0 series lead.
This year’s team has been in the playoff race for most of the season to date (as of this post, they cling to the last Wild Card Playoff spot, 3rd place in the NL Central), but with their lack of offensive punch as of late, that spot could be in jeopardy.
Speaking of a lack of power, I found an article from espn.com’s Christina Kahrl which explains very well the current power outage the Reds are experiencing. You can check out that article by clicking here. Hopefully with the return of slugging third baseman Ryan Ludwick (who has been out of the lineup since opening day due to a shoulder injury), the Reds can turn things around as they head towards the playoffs. Only time will tell.
That’s it for this week’s Monday Morning Quarterback. A reminder that our first show of the new season takes place on Thursday, August 22nd, with our high school football preview show. Check it out at www.blogtalkradio.com. Keep checking out the website for more details about upcoming shows.
