MARKS gone wild!!!
My Stud Nation, I have been very lax in my updates recently. I apologize but “Life” takes over at times. As most of you who listened to the Steve Black show know on October 31st, I paid tribute to my first Manager in the Business, Gentleman Jim Chadwick. His death has hit me very hard as well as those people who knew him and his family well. Rest in Peace my friend!!
I want to touch base on a subject that eats at my heart and soul. Its “MARKS” in the wrestling business. The definition of a MARK is someone who comes to shows and buys a ticket to see the show. They buy our pictures and t-shirts. If it ended there, then the Stud would be happy. The Issue is that about 75% of the wrestling federations in Ky allow the MARKS free reign. If a MARK can tell you who will win before the show starts, then they are too close to the business. If a MARK knows where the boys hang out after the show then they are too Close. If a Mark can tell you what the pay was for a worker, you got too close!!!
I see Marks all the time in the ring after a show playing around. That ring is sacred ground to me!! It is where I work. Do you see people going to the Circus and then after the show is over, go down to the lions cage and get in to play with the lions or climb in the cannon to check it out? HELL NO!!! Let me offer a piece of advice to those Fans/Marks who do not know proper protocal. When the show is over, please get the HELL out of the Building. Do not hang out in the parking lot after the show waiting to see me and/or the other workers. I have cussed many a fan out and came close to physical contact, if a fan ask me where im eating or whats my email??
I dare any one of you to go to a WWE show and try to get in the dressing room. I dare any of you to try to follow a WWE Superstar to a Dennys or Waffle House and try to talk to them. We do our shows and we have lives outside of the building. Please do not come over as I’m eating with my wife to talk to me about the show unless its to say, “Great show tonight I will be back next week”.
I’m over idiot fans who pay $8 and expect me to be their slave for three hours, and then intrude on my personal time!!
Well, it has been almost 2 weeks since my return and I admit, my Stud Nation, I have not kept up with my blogging duties.
My return resulted in 2 losses from 2 very hard fought matchs. I do not really count wins and losses, per se. I count my comeback as a success. The self doubts I had days before my return were the most nagging I have ever felt.
I wondered, much like a veteran of baseball, could I still hit the inside curve? As a football quarterback could I still stand in the pocket and throw the 30 yd completion as the linebacker was bearing down on me? You see my Stud Nation, October 12th was not about wins or losses. It was not about making a fan furious (which I did). It was about climbing back in the ring. The ring that I am at home in.
It was about hitting the spots and not feeling or looking like a man who the business had passed by. You see my Stud Nation, there comes a time in every man or woman’s life when the respect of your peers means everything. I have the respect of my peers.
I slso needed the respect of the man I have to see in the mirrior everyday and YES, my Stud Nation, I got that respect.
Yes I may have lost a half step, I may have lost my ability to give that big move off the top, but I can still go. Some of you can count 0-2 as a failure, but I count it as my success. I will be back again, again and again!!!
The days to my return are moving like a comet though the Night Sky. I began to pack my wrestling gear bag with my tools of the trade. It involves so much detail to pack just right. I have 3 pair of custom boots to chose from, as well as numerous singlets and wrestling tights. I coordinate each thing. I am a true believer in Image and appreance to the fans.
I am trying to coordinate my Saturday as far as getting a workout in and finishing up any last details. I need to have more pictures copied to sell. I am a heel “bad guy” but people still buy my pictures to tear them up in front of me. Long as the $$ they spend does not get torn I’m a happy camper.
I will try to get a good meal Friday night as I’m sure my stomach will be too nervous on Saturday to eat. I have always said the day I don’t get nervous on a show day. I will hang up my boots. I expect Saturday to be very hectic. I may not have time to blog much the rest of this week due to outside responblity. I hope to take you along step by step Saturday night up till I enter the ring. I sincerely hope you are enjoying my thoughts as much as I am putting them down. It has heighted my excitement for my return.
It has been 13 months since I stepped into the ring. I dislocated my shoulder March 2011 and had surgery Jan 4 2013. The rehab was long and painful, to get a shoulder back to the level of the pounding it takes in the ring is long and hard work. I am nervous bout my return. When you care about a sport and have a passion for. It. You do not want to do it just 75% of your ability you want to give it your all. I wonder if I am ready to step back in the ring? Will I be able to pick it right back up? Will the ring rust be too much to shake? I guess when my music hits and I get in the ring and I absorb that 1st hit from my oppentent I will know. Stay tuned my Stud Nation. It’s only 5 days away. More updates to follow on my long road back.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Ky Stud Aka Stephen “The Stud” Sexton. I will be offering my insights on the great world of Pro Wrestling.
I am a 10 year Vet of Kentucky, West Virginia, Tennessee, Ohio and Indiana wrestling. I will offer my thoughts on TNA well as WWE. I will give my unbiased thoughts on the Kentucky Indy scene. I’m a tough sell, so if it’s crap, I will call it crap!!
I will take you inside my world of travel on the Indy circuit. I will, at times, take you right up to the dressing room door and sometimes in the dressing room with me. I will offer my feelings and aches and pains with you. I will attempt to convey the physical and mental pain my brothers and sisters in this business endure. I have no time for yard tards without gear and untrained Goofs “Goofs will be a frequent word here”
I will talk about life on the road which, contrary to popular belief, is not a glamorous world. I hope you enjoy my insight and welcome feedback. I hope you enjoy my thoughts and words. I look forward to offering you a close up of my other life as Ky Stud or “The Stud” Stephen Sexton.
