2013 Steve Black Show Mythical Football Championships

For the 2013 KHSAA football championships, I have decided to share my mythical high school football championships for the schools in the Tri-County area, along 25E (Cumberland Gap Parkway) and those counties that encompass what is recognized as the 13th region when it comes to other sports in this area.  The winners will be recognized on my show and on this website.  Here are the three championships.  May the best team or teams win!!

Mythical Tri-County Champion

This award goes to the school in the tri-county area (Knox, Laurel and Whitley Counties) that has the last football team to be eliminated from the playoffs or wins their class championship.  Schools eligible for this award are Corbin, Knox Central, Lynn Camp, North Laurel, Whitley County and Williamsburg).  South Laurel did not make the playoffs this year, so they are not eligible.  Last year’s winners were Knox Central and Whitley County (both eliminated in the second round).

Mythical Champion of 25E

This award has gone on among some of my friends for several years now.  This mythical championship goes to the school in the towns connected by the Cumberland Gap Parkway (25E) that is the last team to be eliminated from the playoffs or wins their class championship.  Schools eligible for this award include Middlesboro, Bell County, Pineville, Knox Central, Lynn Camp and Corbin.  Last year’s winner was Bell County (eliminated in the regional championship).

Mythical 13th Region Champion

This award goes to the school in the 13th Region (Bell, Clay, Harlan, Jackson, Knox, Laurel and Whitley Counties) that has the last football team to be eliminated from the playoffs or wins their class championship.  Schools eligible for this award include Middlesboro, Pineville, Bell County, Harlan Independent, Harlan County, Jackson County, Clay County, North Laurel, Williamsburg, Whitley County, Lynn Camp and Knox Central.  South Laurel did not make the playoffs this year, so they are not eligible.   Last year’s winner was Harlan County (eliminated in the final four).

Stay tuned to the Steve Black Show (Thursdays at 7pm EST on www.blogtalkradio.com) as we will soon crowd our mythical champions for 2013.
